Origins (1927-1983)

Compañía Logística de Hidrocarburos CLH, S.A has more than 90 years of experience in the energy sector. CLH is the result of the spin-off of the commercial assets belonging to the former Compañía Arrendataria del Monopolio de Petróleos, S.A. (CAMPSA), that occurred in 1992 as the culmination of the oil sector deregulation process that took place in Spain after it joined the European Common Market.

Origins (1927-1983) CAMPSA

Compañía Arrendataria del Monopolio de Petróleos (CAMPSA), the forerunner of today's CLH, was incorporated in 1927 in order to nationalise the assets of the budding oil industry that existed at the time.

It was established across the whole of Spanish territory (with the exception of the Canary Islands and the sovereign territories in Africa). Its activity included the importation, all kinds of industrial handling, storage, distribution and sale of liquid mineral fuels and their by-products. It did not include the research, exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons since these could only be managed pursuant to a concession granted by the Government.

CAMPSA was originally a combined company (the State had a minority capital share) up until 1977, when the State achieved holdings of over 50%.
